About This Item
A coupler joins two lengths of pipe in a straight line and is the cheapest way to extend a run or repair a cut. A union does the same job but comes apart: a threaded collar lets you break the joint later without cutting the pipe, which is what you want either side of a pump, a filter or a valve that will eventually need servicing. Both are stocked across the full size range, with reducing couplers for stepping between sizes.
