The standard butt hinge, mortised into the edge of the door and the frame. The ball-bearing version carries sealed bearings in the knuckle, so a heavy door swings without the squeak and the sag that plain-knuckle hinges develop. Grade 304 stainless throughout, including the pin, which is what stops the rust streak down a bathroom door. Three hinges to a door is the rule for anything over six feet or any door with a glass panel; two is enough only for a light cupboard shutter.
